Imbalance in the meal plate leads to the nutritional disorders like kwashiorkor, marasmus, stunting, wasting, to eradicate
these problems government has initiated many programs

INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF MILLETS -2023
The International Year of Millets 2023 aims to raise awareness about the importance of millets and their health benefits. It also seeks to promote the production, consumption, and value-addition of millet products. The theme of the International Year of Millets is “Healthy Millets,
Healthy People.”
The slogan of the year Is. Protect Our Livelihood
We held a night meeting regarding the awareness on international Year of Millets 2023 so that the people would get to know about the programs campaigns being held throughout the country.
We also had joined the walkathon in chikkaballapur grounds where the Agriculture minister and Health minister had participated. There was a competition held in chintamani where people cooked variety of millets based products.
United Nations General Assembly at its 75th session in March 2021 declared 2023 the International Year of Millets (IYM 2023). FAO is the lead agency for celebrating the Year in collaboration with other relevant stakeholders. Millets can grow on arid lands with minimal inputs and are resilient to changes in climate. They are therefore an ideal solution for countries to increase self-sufficiency and reduce reliance on imported cereal grains.
This will be an opportunity to raise awareness of, and direct policy attention to the nutrition and health benefits of millets and their suitability for cultivation under adverse and changing climatic conditions.
The Year will also promote the sustainable production of millets, while highlighting their
potential to provide new sustainable market opportunities for producers and consumers.
