World Soil Day was celebrated on 5 December at Harohalli .
The program was presided over by Dr.B.G. Vasanthi, scientist AICRP Dryland. She addressed the farmers and students on the importance of soil, its vital role in food production and the need to conserve this valuable natural resource. Dr.C.M. Savitha, Extension department and Dr. B Mamatha, Assistant professor, Soil Science Department also shared their valuable insights.
Suma Devi, President, Harohalli Gram Panchayat, Sowmya. G, Panchayat Development Officer, Harohalli Gram Panchayat, Kamalamma.L, Headmistress, Upgraded Government Higher Primary School, Harohalli, Chandrappa, Former Zilla Panchayat member, Harohalli graced the occassion with their presence.
The program attended by around 24 farmers, 8 school teachers and 58 school students.
Soil Health Card was distributed to 24 farmers in the program.
As part of the World Soil Day celebrations various competitions- quiz , drawing and essay writing were conducted on 2nd December for the students of Upgraded Government Higher Primary School, Harohalli. The prizes for the winners of the competitions were handed over by Dr.C.M. Savitha, Dr. B. Mamatha, Dr.B.G. Vasanthi, Suma Devi, Sowmya. G, Chandrappa, and Kamalamma.L.
