December 5th of every year is celebrated as World Soil Day. It was first started by a Thailand King, who spent his life creating awareness on improvement of soil health.
Soil and Water , Source of Life – Theme of 2023 World Soil Day, In our Village i.e at Mudugere , we celebrated it very nicely involving villagers and school students.
We decided to conduct some activities and games for school students on behalf of World Soil Day 2023. Here is the list of competition conducted and list of winners
On the day of World Soil Day, we had Dr. S. Channakeshava Sir as the Chief Guest for our programme and Dr. Y M Gopal sir as our Programme Chairman. The program began at 4.30 PM. There were more than 120 people in the program. As a special invite, we had a famous Organic Farmer of this region Mr. Narasimha Reddy from Veerammanahalli and Mr. Jagadeesh, Project incharge, Atal Bhujal Yojana
Starting with a song, we Inaugurated the programme in a special way by filling sand and water to avoid the air space which makes the soil loose. Then we explained the theme and history of Soil Day. Later a talk was given by Channakeshava Sir on importance of soil health. Later Jagadeesh Sir gave information about the judicious and estimated use of water for agriculture. At last Narasimha Reddy Sir gave some valuable suggestions on how organic farming improves the soil health and how it conserves soil.
Then HPS Mudugere students did a Dance performance and we moved to distribution of the prizes for the winners. After that we had a interaction session with the farmers and the professor.
At last we ended the Programme by giving vote of thanks to all of them who attended our programme.
In order to attract people we had arranged a lunch for them.
