This is Muhammed Arif, pursuing masters from Dept. of Agril. Extension. It gives me immense pleasure to tell about our Department of Agricultural Extension.

The present-day development in Agricultural Extension is remarkable. The developments are due to selfless dedicated service of extension professionals.

In the year 1960-61, an independent full-fledged Department of Agricultural Extension came into function as Prof. K. A. Jalihal as Head of department.

Later in 1962-63 Agri. Extension was offered as a major course.

In academic year 1974-75 the department started offering Ph.D. courses.

Every year on an average 14-15 students are admitted for master’s degree programme and similar number of students are graduating.

Similarly, 9-10 students are admitted for PhD programme every year.

Since 2015 the number of students getting JRF/SRF scholarship has increased.

In recent year, our department students have accomplished various academic achievements.

Many students are getting scholarship on an average of 30-35,000rs, such as NFOBC JRF scholarship, NFSC scholarship, NFST scholarship, which is proud to the department

Ms. Kavita Angadi has been selected as Agricultural field officer

Ms. Habung Ali has been appointed as Assistant professor KVK Maro, Dept. of Agriculture, Arunachal Pradesh.

The department has a pride having projects, one such project is, in the year 2019, the department has implemented the project “Establishment of climate smart villages in southern districts of Karnataka.” it has a budget of ₹ 24 lakhs. The project has been completed in 2022

Another project is NASF project “Analysis of land dispute and redressal mechanism for ensuring farm productivity and livelihood security.” It has a budget ₹1.7 Cr. We are expecting the final approval of this project in the coming few days

The department had organized Winter school on “Agri Startups and entrepreneurship development from 23rd February to 15th of March 2022

The department also conducted skill development training programme on “Scientific thesis & Technical research paper writing for post graduate students” it was held on 3rd and 4th August

These are the few of the many accomplishments of our department as well as its students. We are extremely fortunate to be guided by some of the brightest brains in agricultural extension, who have motivated students to achieve their goals and in turn contribute to society.

With the combined efforts of both faculty and students, the department holds the potential to achieve many more accomplishments. Hence it is a great pleasure for all of us to be a part of this department

Thank You
